A new chapter

The first thing to say in this post is: I know, I told you I would write more technical blog posts and less personal, irrelevant posts like this one... But I need to share some news and some changes in my plans. So please keep reading and I promise that I will write a post about matrices and linear transformations, focusing less on the matrices and more on the beautiful mathematics behind them.

The end of a chapter

After beginning a new chapter, we must end another. It's happening because I'm finishing my bachelor in computer engineering and I'm wondering why I'm doing it in the first place. Well, I have been focused on this goal since I was 12 years old and I solved a lot of problems to be able to achieve it ... mostly problems with myself. When I entered this computer engineering degree, my goal was not to become a developer, my goal was to focus on computer vision research. However, I realized that I was just hiding my interest in mathematics behind something that I know a little bit about, and that is AI.

My first thought was: "Ohhh I'm going to get a master's in math", but then while I was studying abstract linear algebra on my own, I realized how hard it is to study math by myself! And I was studying something basic like linear algebra, imagine if I was studying something harder like algebraic geometry. So after thinking and finding out that there are exams for people who are 23+ years old to enter in another bachelor, I decided to do another bachelor in math instead of a masters. My mentor told me that this was a wise choice and that I was perfectly capable of doing it, especially because I really like mathematics. So I'm doing it, I'm looking forward to start preparing for the exams which are about high school math.

PS: I forgot to say, I haven't finished the book Linear Algebra Done Right ;-; to be honest I haven't progressed much, I hope to progress a lot in the next few months, but I don't promise nor plan that.

Synopsis about the chapter

Normally we have a synopsis of the whole book, but I'm doing one of this single chapter that ends. Well, a lot of things have changed in my life, some I don't want to talk about, but I can say that I've met really cool people in college and online. However, I'm moving away from people I mean in real life because I talk a lot online! I have been a bit careless with my health because of the deadlines and all the effort I have put into this degree. Now I hope I can make up for those 3 years of bad habits.

About the degree, I think it was generally easy ... yes, I had a lot of work and effort, but it wasn't challenging enough. Probably because I already had a lot of experience with many programming languages and development areas like web, games and software development as well as Linux. I like to write scientific papers and I love math, which helped in the first year. I met some good teachers and others not so good and I did a nice project which I hope I can publish two scientific papers about AND when I did it I will share it here sooo don't forget to add my blog to your RSS ;-)

I can say that my favorite subjects were linear algebra, calculus, statistics, probability and computer theory. My least favorite subjects were mobile development and web technologies, mostly because the teachers were bad and the lessons were boring and outdated.

The new chapter

So now you ask: "Tell me, my online friend, what are you up to right now besides studying for your math exams and pretending to read LADR? My plans are the same as before, except that I'm not getting a masters in math. I really want to progress in LADR and in the new book I already planned to read: "Understanding Analysis". But other than that, the real focus is now:

  • Find a job in tech (something I can consiliate with the bachelor math)
  • Learn chess I mean chess theory
  • Write scientific papers if my mentor say so
  • Finish my reading of "Flatland" and "Love and Math"

If I can do all of this in few months I'm a really happy guy! But I really doubt it because I'm pretty laaaaaazy ;-;

A note for you

Thanks for reading this little post! I hope and wish you a lot of happiness, health and people you love to share all this ^^ If you want to say something you have my X here
